THIEN TAM ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2004, the Mai Am Thien Tam Orphanage lies just 20 minutes south of Nha Trang’s city center, in Phuoc Dong ward. The orphanage is run by Nguyen Dinh Chi and his wife Nguyen Thi Kim Lien. A former orphan himself, Chi set up the orphanage in his home as a place of love and sanctuary for orphans of Nha Trang. They currently care for a small group of adolescents The orphanage is run by Chi and Lien, and is not owned or operated by Lovingkindness Vietnam. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community.
At such a short distance from Nha Trang, this is one of the easiest places to visit. Most orphanages that we assist lie far from the city lights, but Thien Tam rests in a lovely open setting just south of Nha Trang. Donations to this cause go to buying food for the children, upkeep of the facilities, and paying school fees. DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The easiest route is to take Tran Phu south, and follow the signs to Diamond Bay Resort. After crossing the Binh Tan Bridge, veer right, and stay on the main road. The orphanage is in the community at a large roundabout. Ask for directions to “Mai Am Thien Tam”, and you’ll be there in no time.
