ANH DAO ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, Sixty orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. The orphanage is run by Sister An Son, and is not owned or operated by Lovingkindness Vietnam.  They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. Mai Am Anh Dao is also unique in that it is the only orphanage in the area that is not adjacent a house of religion. Most orphanages are adjacent a Buddhist pagoda or Christian church, and receive regular donations from local worshipers who frequent the church or pagoda. Mai Am Anh Dao, however, stands alone, and is always in need of assistance.

Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses. To look after these innocent children requires basic foodstuffs, as well as other monthly expenses.

Donations go to the purchasing of food for the orphans, general upkeep of the orphanage, and periodic expenses. We also hope to arrange additional special activities for the children. To donate to this wonderful home, click the Donate button, which can be found on any page of this site in the top right. From the PayPal form, include a comment to indicate that you wish the donation to go to Anh Dao. You can also send us an email at ahren@lovingkindnessvietnam.org.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Take one of the main roads heading north out of Nha Trang, either 2 Thang 4 street or Pham Van Dong street. Drive for about 50 kilometers until you enter Ninh Hoa town. Follow the signs left toward “Dak Lak”, and then at a small roundabout veer left again onto Nguyen Hue Street. This later becomes Highway 26 and will take you into Ninh Phung ward. This area is known for its brick-making towers, and you’ll pass many along the 12 kilometers from Ninh Hoa town to the orphanage. You’ll see it on the left. The orphanage is fairly nondescript, so you may have to ask for its neighborhood “Tan My Ninh Xuan” along the way, as well as the orphanage, “Mai Am Anh Dao”.
