In November 2021 we had a great visit at the Anh Dao Orphanage. We had contacted the head nun and asked what the orphanage was in need of. She provided a detailed list of items, and our team of volunteers in Nha Trang bought everything at local markets. They loaded it all into a van and made the drive north into Ninh Hoa.

The children met our team in the courtyard and were excellent helpers carrying all the supplies into the main common room. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, sticky rice, boxes of instant noodles, dried squid, racks of eggs, sugar, seasonings, cooking oil, vegan pork, vegan meat pies, vegan beef, bean curd sheets, mushroom varieties, mung beans, black beans, peanuts, sesame seeds, detergent, fabric softener, floor soap, toilet cleaner, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and masks.

The children gathered in the common room and our team handed out sweet breads for everyone to enjoy. We stayed for a nice long visit and got a tour of the grounds from the head nun. So much fun!

This visit was made possible through the kindhearted donations from the family of Dr Chad & Kim-Loan McDuffie and their children Delaney, Keagan & Anderson. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE ANH DAO ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, a large group of orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses.
