In January 2022 we had a great Tet party with the children at the Nhan Ai Orphanage. The Lunar New Year is the biggest holiday of the year in Vietnam, and we wanted the children at Nhan Ai to experience some of the joy of this holiday. We spoke with the nuns at the orphanage, and they already had a big plan for the children. We were very happy to contribute.
As part of this fun day, the children and groups of volunteers made Banh Tet, traditional sticky rice cakes. The children put on costumes and performed a traditional dance in the courtyard. At lunchtime, everyone sat down for a huge feast in the dining hall. Later, the nuns handed out lucky money to the children and there were lots of fun games in the courtyard. It was a joyous occasion!
Our contribution to this holiday party for the children came from kindhearted donations from Hanh Duong, Eamonn Gahan, and Jeroen Stouten. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE NHAN AI ORPHANAGE
Founded in 1996 by Sister Nguyen Thi Bao Quyen, the Nhan Ai Orphanage resides behind the Giao Xu Phu Nhon Catholic Church in Cam Ranh, to the south of Nha Trang. The orphanage is run by the nuns of Nhan Ai and relies entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. Nhan Ai is the largest orphanage that we assist and houses approximately 130 orphans in a wonderfully tranquil home.
