On September 24, 2018 we brought a fun Mid-Autumn Festival to the Khanh Son Charity Home & School. Located in the mountainous area to the southwest of Nha Trang, the Khanh Son Charity Home & School is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Some of the children stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The nuns provide a nurturing environment for all, ensure the children attend local public schools, and offer free daycare, kindergarten, and after school tutoring lessons.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is a special holiday for children. Children get to parade about in the evening with paper lanterns, eat traditional sweets, and sometimes watch performers dance. We wanted to give the children at Khanh Son a special treat, so arranged for the community’s children to receive traditional gifts and had a troupe of performers come to the Home in the evening. There were lion dancers and performers dressed as the Monkey God and the Earth God. We also handed out lanterns and gift bags. The children had lots of fun!
This special holiday treat for the children was made possible through the kind donations of Alexander Phan, Dane Sawmiller, and Dan, Van, & Devin Haynes.
Thank you!!!
