On May 12, 2019 we had a wonderful visit with the children at the Suoi Cat Charity Home. Suoi Cat is a poor community to the west of Nha Trang, composed of rural farming hamlets that live in poverty. The Suoi Cat Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The home is composed of young children and teenage girls, who stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The children attend public school and receive tutoring and extra lessons at the home.
We contacted the nuns who run the home and asked what their immediate needs were. Our team organized a trip and brought lots of essential supplies. Upon our arrival, the girls helped our team carry everything into the common room. On this trip, we brought boxes of soy milk, bags of bean varieties, cooking oil, lots of seasonings and sauces, dish soap, laundry detergent, and cleaning products.
Our team always makes the visits fun and handed out balloons and snacks to the children. The girls sang songs and performed some dances they had learned in school. There were lots of smiles and laughs all around! We also brought some special treats for lunch and helped prepare a midday meal for the children. When the food was ready, everyone sat in the dinning hall and enjoyed the lunch.
This visit was made possible through a donation from the BEI Foundation.
Thank you!!!
