On Friday March 30, 2012 we visited The Sunflower Children’s Home and the Hoi Am Thua Sai Home for Disabled Children with Liem Hong of New Jersey, USA. As mentioned on the trip we had made the day before, Liem contacted us about a visit he planned to make to Vietnam several months ago. The sole purpose of his trip was to do charity, and he had already given generously to causes in Ho Chi Minh City and Danang before coming to Nha Trang.

The weather had turned rainy, but we made good time on our drive south. The children at Hoi Am Thua Sai don’t get many visitors, and they were very happy to see us. We handed out snacks and balloons, and the children sang us songs and played in the main classroom. It was a great visit, and we got to talk to the nuns and the kids while it drizzled outside. Liem said he would like to do more for this wonderful home in the future.

After leaving Cam Ranh we came back to Nha Trang and visited the Sunflower Children’s Home.

Some of the kids were at school when we arrived, but we got to spend time with about a dozen of the children being cared for, and spoke to one of the caretakers about the children. It was a nice visit, and the kids had fun with the snacks and balloons that we brought with us. As before, Liem said that he would strive to do more to help the Sunflower Children’s Center in the future.

On his short visit to Nha Trang, Liem did a staggering amount of charity, and directly benefited the lives of those most in need in Vietnam. Thank you Liem!

Khanh had called the nuns that care for the children at Sunflower and Hoi Am Thua Sai, and they were very excited about the visit. Both places were in need of basic foodstuff, and we ended up bringing bags of rice, bottles of cooking oil, dried fish, dried squid, dried shrimp, cooking spices, and boxes of noodles.

Our first stop was the home for disabled children in Cam Ranh.
