Providing Education Supplies to the Suoi Dau Charity Home
In October 2021 we had a great visit to the Suoi Dau Charity Home. The COVID outbreak in Vietnam had delayed the school year and restricted travel. Our team of volunteers were unable to visit until this month. Now that restrictions are being lifted, we wanted to make sure our causes had everything they needed, especially for the children’s education.
We spoke with the caretakers at Suoi Dau, and made a list of each child’s specific needs. We bought textbooks, school uniforms, footwear, and school supplies for everyone. We also brought some extra supplies and food for the home, including toothpaste, dish soap, masks, instant noodles, bean curd, and seasonings.
Our volunteers stacked everything in the courtyard and the children gathered around. Many of the boys were very eager to try on their new sandals. Next, we prepared some yummy drinks for everyone to enjoy. It was a lovely visit! This charity trip was made possible through the kindness of a family in the USA. Thank you!!!
The Suoi Dau Charity Home is located in Suoi Dau district near Suoi Cat, which are both poor communities to the west of Nha Trang composed of rural farming hamlets that live in poverty. The Suoi Dau Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for a group of the community’s young boys whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The boys stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The boys all come from the ethnic Raglay minority group. Overseen by pastor Dam Nguyen, the caretakers who run the home provide a nurturing environment and ensure the children attend local public schools and provide after-school tutoring lessons.
