On February 1, 2016 we made a visit to a poor community in Ninh Hoa district, an hour’s drive north of Nha Trang. Our lead coordinators Loan and Nhan have connections in Ninh Hoa, and often visit friends and family in the area. They’ve seen the poverty firsthand, and coordinated with the local government to assist poor families at Tet, the Vietnamese lunar new year. While this time of year is celebrated throughout the country, for many it is a difficult time, as prices on basic goods skyrocket, and it becomes difficult to afford any of the customary traditions of Tet.
Through the kindness of the McDuffie and Stewart families, we brought supplies of basic necessities to 50 poor families to help make their new year brighter. The local government helped organized the effort, and each family sent a representative to accept the gifts.
Thank you McDuffie and Stewart families!!
