On August 14, 2017 we brought lots of sports equipment and facilities to the Khanh Son Charity School. Located far to the southwest of Nha Trang, Khanh Son is a rugged mountainous region with scattered farming villages, all in poverty. Sister Huong and several other nuns founded the home and school for the children of the poor communities in the region. It is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Some of the children stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The nuns provide a nurturing environment for all, ensure the children attend local public schools, and offer free daycare, kindergarten, and after school tutoring lessons.
Sister Huong’s herculean effort to build this school from nothing is a wonder, and we have been very happy to contribute to its success. To help the children exercise, and to encourage them to attend classes, we funded a sports facility in the main courtyard. We set up badminton courts and a basketball net, and provided the school with all the sports equipment they need. For many of the children, this was the first time they ever played badminton or basketball, and they were enthralled with all the new equipment. The children were running around the courtyard, having the time of their lives playing, and even the nuns got involved in the fun.
This wonderful gift was made possible through the kind donations of Juli and Kyle.
Thank you!!!
