On August 4th, 2010 we returned to the Mai Am Nhan Ai Orphanage in Cam Ranh with a group of friends from Nha Trang. Led by Ms. Lam of Lanterns Restaurant and British ex-pat Gary Teeven, a group of 12 generous individuals in Nha Trang made a substantial donation to the children of the orphanage. Lam and friends purchased school books, school uniforms, backpacks, and school supplies for all 70 school-aged orphans, as well as paying the school fees for the entire 2010-2011 school year. While the orphanage ensures the children all attend public school, the many costs are paid for through donations. In one day Lam and friends made sure the wonderful kids at Nhan Ai had the entire year’s education taken care of. Also donated by Lam and friends were food and other necessities for the orphanage.
This included rice, cooking oil, sugar, seasoning, instant noodles, condensed milk, diapers, baby formula, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, medicine, and elderly care supplies. Lam and friends have already donated generously to the Loc Tho Charity School, and we wish to thank them for their never-ending generosity towards those most needy in Khanh Hoa Province. This group of friends is comprised of business owners in Nha Trang, and we encourage visitors to the city to show your support to business leaders actively involved in local charities. The group includes: Gary Teeven, Brian Gracie, Rainbow Divers, Lanterns Restaurant, Bar Oz, Shamrock Bar, Guava Bar, Local Restaurant, HQ Cafe and Apartments, Jason Thatcher VN Motorbike Tours, and Rodger Murchie.
