On September 14, 2018 we made our first visit to the Suoi Dau Charity Home. Located in the Suoi Dau district to the southwest of Nha Trang, the Suoi Dau Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for many of the community’s young boys whose families struggle to support and provide for them. At present there are just under 20 boys aged 12 to 15 at the home, including 3 raised by single mothers and 1 orphan. The children stay at the facilities year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together. The caretakers provide a nurturing environment and ensure the children attend school. Choosing to not attend school is a big problem in poor rural communities, and the caretakers at the Home are dedicated to making sure the children in their care complete all levels of schooling.
We contacted the caretakers to learn their most pressing needs, and organized a visit. We brought bags of rice, packages of noodles, cooking oil, bottles of soy sauce, dish soap, laundry detergent, and packages of seasonings.
We also brought some of paper lanterns and treats for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The Mid-Autumn Festival is a special holiday for children in Vietnam. In addition to getting yummy treats, the children put candles in their lanterns and parade about in the evening. The children at Suoi Dau were very excited to get treats and lanterns!
This fun charity trip was made possible through the kindness of a family in the USA.
Thank you!!!
