On February 24, 2017 we contributed to another charity’s mission to bring aid to a community of leprosy victims. The Xom Chieu and Dai Tung Lam pagodas are located in Saigon, and have led charitable missions to help those less fortunate in the past. When we learned of their upcoming visit to a leprosy center, we made a contribution to their project. The Binh Minh Leprosy Center is in Dong Nai province, to the north of Saigon, and cares for a large number of people of all ages who suffer from this debilitating disease. Ostracized from their home communities, these people receive comfort and care at the center.
This visit was coordinated by the monks of the pagodas, and volunteers loaded up a truck of essential supplies and drove to the center. They met with the residents, handed out supplies, and offered their support to everyone there. Our contribution to this effort was made through the kind donations of the McDuffie family.
