Our team returned to Song Lo Orphanage this September for our monthly delivery, arriving with a van packed full of essential supplies, fresh ingredients, and special treats for the children.

To make sure every dollar goes directly toward immediate needs, we consult closely with the head caretakers before every trip to build a customized care list. Thanks to our donor community, this month’s delivery provided a comprehensive restocking of kitchen provisions, personal hygiene items, and daily household supplies, including:

  • Pantry & Fresh Foods: A wide variety of mushrooms, vegan meats, dried seaweed, beans, sugar, seasonings, sriracha, ketchup, milk, boxes of ramen, and various specialty noodles.
  • Hygiene & Daily Supplies: Toothpaste, hand soap, general toiletries, napkins, fabric softener, trash bags, and essential office supplies.

Once the provisions were neatly unloaded and stored, everyone gathered in the common room to relax and share a meal. Our team brought spaghetti and fresh drinks from a local favorite spot, creating a warm, festive afternoon full of laughter and conversation with the children.

These smooth monthly visits and the bright smiles they bring are made possible entirely by our compassionate donors. Our thanks to Christopher Dang for supporting Song Lo this month!

ABOUT THE SONG LO ORPHANAGE

The history of the Song Lo Orphanage’s beginnings is heartwarming. As the story goes, a Buddhist monk was traveling in the countryside when he encountered a woman who said she could not care for her 2 children. She left the babies with the monk and fled. Not expecting to have 2 babies to care for, the monk made his way to the Song Lo pagoda, and the head nun at the pagoda, Sister Cat, agreed to care for the children. From that point on, orphans have been either brought to the pagoda, or abandoned at their gates. Formed in 2012, the Song Lo Orphanage cares for a small group of young children. Located adjacent the Son Lo pagoda, it’s a small facility deep in the countryside west of Nha Trang.
