In April 2021 we had a birthday party for the children and brought lots of essential supplies and foodstuff for the orphanage. When we learned that 2 of the children were having birthdays, our team of volunteers made plans to have a big celebration for all the children. At the same time, we coordinated with the caretakers and arranged to bring lots of essential supplies they needed.
We stacked all the supplies on the steps of the courtyard, and the children were excellent helpers carrying boxes from the van. We brought bags of rice, sticky rice, peanuts, ramen noodles, cooking oil, sugar, seasonings, condensed milk, oyster sauce, sriracha, dried shrimp, dried squid, cheese, canned fish, canned meat, and cleaning supplies.
For the birthday party, we had lots of decorations and balloons, two birthday cakes, and presents for all the children. The 2 birthday children posed with their cakes and gave short speeches, then the children performed dances they had learned in school. The children sat at long tables and our team brought out a special lunch for everyone to enjoy. Finally, birthday cake for everyone! It was such a fun day!

ABOUT THE THIEN TAM ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2004, the Thien Tam Orphanage lies 20 minutes south of Nha Trang’s city center, in Phuoc Dong ward. The orphanage is run by Nguyen Dinh Chi and his wife Nguyen Thi Kim Lien. A former orphan himself, Chi set up the orphanage in his home as a place of love and sanctuary for orphans in the community. They currently care for 13 young children.
