In July 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting an ice cream party at the Loc Tho Charity School, bringing both essential supplies and a special treat to the children. We worked closely with the school’s caretakers to organize the delivery of much-needed provisions for the month, along with a fun surprise.
Upon our arrival, the children eagerly helped us unload and organize a month’s worth of staples. These included essential items like bags of rice, packages of noodles, meats, cooking oil, milk, shrimp noodles, boxes of ramen, seasonings, varieties of mushrooms, vegetarian fish sauce, potatoes, pumpkin, cleaning products, and toiletries.
After all the supplies were put away, the entire school gathered in the main courtyard, taking a break from their studies. Our team served up classic flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream, complete with cones and chocolate sauce. It was a joyful occasion, and every child received a delicious treat!
This heartwarming charity visit was made possible by the generous contributions of Julia Lao, Roger Puckett, Littlechad Newfield, Tri Phung, and An Vu. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this trip a success and brought such happiness to the children of Loc Tho Charity School.
ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL
The Loc Tho Charity School, established in 1991 by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y, has a long-standing history of providing free education to underprivileged children. Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to this cause, and after her passing in 2014, the compassionate nuns of the Loc Tho Pagoda have continued her incredible work.
This primary school offers a vital service to the community, providing a free education for children whose families cannot afford public schooling. The school covers all expenses, including textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn. Beyond academics, Loc Tho Charity School also provides breakfast and lunch for its students and offers a nurturing home for several orphans and foster children.
