In September 2023 we had a great visit to the Anh Dao Orphanage. We combined our regular monthly visit with a celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, plus we supported the children’s education for the upcoming school year.
Every month, we bring essential food and supplies to the orphanage. We contacted the head nun and made a details list of items they needed. Our team of volunteers did all the shopping, loaded up a van, and made the drive out to the orphanage. When we arrived, the children helped carry everything into the main common room. We brought bags of rice, boxes of ramen noodles, penne noodles, cereal, milk, soy milk, yogurt, pork, squid, fresh vegetables, vegan pork, mushrooms, seaweed, tofu sheets, cooking oil, and siracha.
In support of the children’s education, we provided new school uniforms for the children, new textbooks for all grade levels, and school supplies.
To celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, we handed out lanterns and mooncakes for everyone to enjoy. It was a wonderful day!
This big charity visit was made possible through the donations from JL Support Services. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE ANH DAO ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, a large group of orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses.
