In January 2020 we had a Tet party at the Dai An Orphanage. The lunar new year (Tet) is the biggest holiday of the year in Vietnam, and we brought the orphans at Dai An a special surprise to mark the occasion. We had coordinated with the caretakers at the orphanage about their current needs, and brought some essential supplies in addition to the Tet party.
When our team arrived, the children helped carry everything to the outdoor picnic shelter in the gardens next to the orphanage. For essential supplies, we brought brooms, dried bamboo shoots, bottles of soy sauce, bottles of fish sauce, bottles of cooking oil, and diapers.
For the Tet party, we followed the fun tradition of handing out red envelopes of lucky money to the children. Each child also got new clothes to wear for the new year. Many were eager to try them on! We also brought lots of traditional foods, sweets, and drinks for the party. A wonderful visit!
This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations of Sharon Kelly, Stephen Milne, and Scott Huynh. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE DAI AN ORPHANAGE
The Dai An Orphanage is located in Cam Ranh district, south of Nha Trang, and cares for approximately 30 young children. It was founded by the same church that runs the Sunflower Orphanage in Nha Trang. Dai An is in a tranquil countryside locale and has a large facility for the children to grow and play. The caretakers provide a nurturing and loving home for these amazing children. There are also classrooms in the orphanage to provide the children with extra tutoring after school.
