In October 2021 we were happy to sponsor education costs at the Lac Thien Orphanage. After a very long wait due to COVID restrictions, the children are finally going back to in-person learning at their local schools. The orphanages had received fewer visitors than normal and we wanted to make sure their education costs were taken care of. We coordinated with the nuns at Lac Thien and made a detailed list of costs.

We were very proud to supply all textbooks, school uniforms, footwear, and school supplies for all the children. Our team brought everything into the common room and the children all gathered around. Many were eager to try on their new uniforms, and put them on over their clothes. Next, we handed out balloons and the little ones had so much fun!

Sponsoring the children’s education was made possible through a kind donation from the 3:16 Lure Company. Thank you!!!

Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
