In September 2022 we visited the Lac Thien Orphanage and sponsored the education of all the children for the 2022-2023 school year. With so many children in their care, the nuns at the orphanage struggle every year to raise the funds to support all of the education costs. This includes buying textbooks, school uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and paying school fees. We were very happy to inform the nuns that we would be taking care of all of that this year. They were so happy!
When our team arrived, we brought lots of food and general supplies for the month. The children gathered in the common room, and we handed out lanterns and snacks to mark the occasion. Many children were eager to try on their new school uniforms and shoes. It was a lovely day!

ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community.
