In January 2022 we made our first charity trip of the year to the Phu Quang Orphanage. We had gotten in touch with the head nun to learn of the orphanage’s most pressing needs. We made a detailed shopping list, bought everything at local markets, and had it all delivered to the orphanage.
The children helped carry all the supplies into the common room. We brought bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, bottles of cooking oil, soy sauce, sugar, jello powder, vegan meat pies, and fresh fruits and vegetables. To prepare for Tet, the Lunar New Year, we brought lots of traditional foods, including rice cakes, taro cakes, seaweed cakes, durian cakes, and tet candies.

ABOUT THE PHU QUANG ORPHANAGE
The Phu Quang Orphanage was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu An at the Phu Quang pagoda in the early 2000’s. For many years, the orphanage has been a loving home to a group of orphans and a foster home to neighborhood children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Phu Quang cares for about 15 children in a loving environment.
