Mai Am Nhan Ai Orphanage – December 21, 2011

On December 21, 2011 a group from BeCause Vietnam made the second stop on their trip to Nha Tang, visiting the Mai Am Nhan Ai Orphanage. BeCause Vietnam is involved in several wonderful projects in Vietnam, in an effort to alleviate the suffering of those less fortunate. Several months ago they contacted us about helping them organize a trip to two orphanages near Nha Trang. We were happy to help! We contacted Sister Bao Quyen to see what their most pressing needs were, and helped coordinate the trip.

It was cloudy on the ride south, but a cool day for the long drive. The orphanage had nearly completed their renovation, and the place looks fantastic. The nuns at Mai Am Nhan Ai have outdone themselves! The children were all home from school for lunch, and we were fortunate to be able to meet so many of them. The little ones had been practicing songs and dances for the holidays, and we were graced with a cute performance by a group of 5-year-olds.

As with their trip the previous day to the Mai Am Anh Dao Orphanage, their donations were substantial. All together there were boxes of instant noodles, cooking oil, dried squid, dried shrimp, sugar, beans, cooking noodles, condensed milk, diapers, wash cloths, eggs, soy sauce, laundry soap, bath soap, medicine from the USA, and dental supplies. They also made a generous donation to the orphanage’s monthly expenses.

BeCause Vietnam passed out balloons and treats, and spent most of the time hanging out with kids, talking with the nuns, and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere at the orphanage. We would like to thank everyone at BeCause Vietnam for making this kind-hearted trip. You can read about their visit to the Mai Am Anh Dao Orphanage here, and visit their website at http://becausevietnam.org/.
