In January 2023 we had a fun visit with the children at the Dai An Orphanage to celebrate Tet, the Lunar New Year. First, we coordinated with the caretakers about bringing a monthly supply of food and general provisions. We also made plans to do something special for the children for the holidays.
On the day of the visit, our team did lots of shopping at local markets for the monthly provisions. We then loaded up a van and made the drive out to the orphanage. The children helped carry everything inside and gathered together. For the general supplies, we brought bottles of soy sauce, mung beans, eggs, quail eggs, pork, fresh fish, canned fish, fish pies, fried fish, calamari, chicken, sausages, ketchup, siracha, hand soap, and laundry detergent. We also received some fun gifts from Zhang Yuhin, a donor in Nha Trang: weights, yoga mats, and exercise bands. The teens had lots of fun with those!
For Tet, we played lots of games with the children, snacked on coconut sweets and other traditional goodies, and handed out red envelopes of lucky money to the children and caretakers. It was a very fun day!
This charity trip was made possible through the continued support from Sharon Kelly, Stephen Milne, and Scott Huynh. Thank you!!! Happy New Year!
ABOUT THE DAI AN ORPHANAGE
The Dai An Orphanage is located in Cam Ranh district, south of Nha Trang, and cares for approximately 30 young children. It was founded by the same church that runs the Sunflower Orphanage in Nha Trang. Dai An is in a tranquil countryside locale and has a large facility for the children to grow and play. The caretakers provide a nurturing and loving home for these amazing children. There are also classrooms in the orphanage to provide the children with extra tutoring after school.
