In June 2022 we had a big visit to the Anh Dao Orphanage. We worked closely with the head nun to learn what supplies the orphanage needed this month. Our team did all the shopping at local markets, loaded up a van, and drove north into Ninh Hoa to the orphanage.
The children met our team in the courtyard and helped carry everything into the main common room inside. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, racks of eggs, garlic, onions, pork, tofu, meat pies, vegan meat pies, shrimp pies, bags of mushrooms, vegan meats, seasonings, sugar, bottles of siracha, cooking oil, dish soap, laundry detergent, floor soap, shampoo, and hand soap.
As a fun treat, we handed out ice cream popsicles to all the children. There were lots of big smiles!
This charity trip was made possible through the kindhearted donations from Vanessa Nguyen, Koshu Takatsuji, Elaine Nguyen, Fred Sims, Alysha Sims, Daniel Cole, Minh Nguyen, Tuan Nguyen, Linh Lam, and an anonymous donor. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE ANH DAO ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, a large group of orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses.
