In September 2024 we had a special visit to the Lac Thien Orphanage. In addition to bringing a monthly allotment of food and general supplies, we were also happy to support the education costs for the 2024-2025 school year. With many children in the orphanage’s care, the costs can add up. These include school uniforms, textbooks, school supplies, shoes, backpacks, and school fees. Last month we bought new school uniforms and shoes for the children. The nuns at the orphanage were so happy that we continued helping with the children’s education costs!
For our regular visit, we brought packages of milk, bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, seasonings, canned fish, dish soap, soap, and diapers.
As a treat for all the children, our team of volunteers handed out snacks and drinks for everyone to enjoy. There were many smiles!
This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations from Christopher Dang, Linh Lam, Shaun Minn, Vanessa Nguyen, and Chris Beeny. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
