On July 6, 2016 we visited the Song Lo Orphanage with many gifts and school supplies for the 2016-2017 school year. Song Lo is a small orphanage to the west of Nha Trang, and provides a loving home for a group of orphans. The nuns at Song Lo send the school-aged children to public school, and rely upon donations for all school costs. On this visit, we brought all of the orphans new backpacks, shoes, textbooks, notebooks, pencil cases, crayons, and writing supplies. We coordinated with the nuns at Song Lo to make sure we had everything that each child would need to start the school year, which begins in August.
The children quickly packed up their supplies in their new backpacks, and tried on their new shoes. We also brought fun toys for the little ones to play. This trip was made possible through the donations of Mr. Hieu Nguyen of the USA.
