Bright smiles and fresh energy filled the courtyard during our August visit to Lac Thien Orphanage! To help the children step into the upcoming school term with confidence, our team worked closely with the orphanage staff beforehand to ensure every delivery matched their exact needs.
When our volunteers pulled up with a van full of supplies, the children were enjoying the sunny afternoon on the playground. They immediately rushed over to greet us, eager to lend a hand.
Together, we unpacked essentials to restock the orphanage cupboards, including dishwashing liquid, toiletries, body wash, and shampoo. The highlight of the day, however, was delivering brand-new school uniforms and sturdy sandals for every single child. A few couldn’t resist trying them on right away to check the fit!
After wrapping up the heavy lifting, our team shared cool yogurt cups with the kids for a fun afternoon treat.

ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
