In December 2022 the Nhan Ai Orphanage celebrated Christmas and the completion of a large project that had been ongoing for several months. The orphanage’s previous kitchens were prone to flooding during the monsoons every year. The nuns would sometimes send us pictures of the children standing in foot-high water, helping to carry food out of the kitchens in a flood. The nuns had long wished to build new kitchens, set on higher ground, and with a better drainage system. This year, they started constructions of the new kitchen.

They told us of their plans and we immediately offered to contribute to the construction costs. The nuns were so happy to receive our support! After several months, they completed the building in December 2022. Soon after, the nuns held a celebratory feast with the children. And on Christmas weekend, the children dressed in their adorable Santa outfits, and had a party in the finished kitchens. There were balloons and ice cream for everyone. It was a wonderful day!

Our contributions to this projects came from generous donations from the Kinghurst Foundation and Eamonn Gahan. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE NHAN AI ORPHANAGE

Founded in 1996 by Sister Nguyen Thi Bao Quyen, the Nhan Ai Orphanage resides behind the Giao Xu Phu Nhon Catholic Church in Cam Ranh, to the south of Nha Trang. The orphanage is run by the nuns of Nhan Ai and relies entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. Nhan Ai is the largest orphanage that we assist and houses approximately 130 orphans in a wonderfully tranquil home.
