This August, our team traveled north to Ninh Hoa to visit the vibrant children and devoted caregivers at Anh Dao Orphanage. Working beforehand with the head nun to identify their most urgent monthly needs, we loaded our van to the brim and set off.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by bright smiles and eager hands as the kids rushed out to help unload and organize the supplies in the main common room.
Essential Food & Care Deliveries
Thanks to our generous donor community, we delivered a comprehensive shipment of daily necessities:
- Staples & Seasonings: 50kg bags of rice, packages of noodles, sugar, flour, seasonings, and chili sauce
- Fresh Food & Proteins: Tofu sheets, assorted mushrooms, fresh vegetables, and racks of eggs
- Child & Hygiene Care: Baby formula, diapers, laundry detergent, soap, and shampoo
Investing in the Upcoming School Year
Core to our mission is ensuring every child has the resources to thrive in the classroom. Each year, we endeavor to fully fund the school year for every student at Anh Dao. During this visit, we provided everything needed for the upcoming term:
- New school uniforms and sandals
- Backpacks and complete grade-specific textbook sets
- Essential classroom supplies and coverage of miscellaneous school fees
A few excited students even tried on their new uniforms right away to check the fit!
We rounded out the afternoon sharing fresh fruit—sliced up with the help of the older teens—and celebrating the start of a bright new academic chapter.
This visit was made entirely possible by the kindness of our donors: Christopher Dang, Vanessa Nguyen, Taylor Lieberman, Daniel Cole, Koshu Takatsuji, Kateryna Lo, Linh Lam, Samantha Popple, and an anonymous donor. Thank you for helping us bring stability, joy, and education to the children of Anh Dao!
About the Anh Dao Orphanage
Established in 2004 by Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, the Anh Dao Orphanage is a safe haven for a large group of children in need. Located in Ninh Hoa, just 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang, this heartfelt home offers a structured and nurturing atmosphere where joy and kindness flourish. Visitors are always struck by the cheerful spirits of the children and the genuine delight of spending time talking, playing, and simply being present with them.
To support the children’s nourishment and help offset monthly expenses, Sister An Son cultivates a modest farm behind the orphanage, near the girls’ living quarters. The farm yields fresh vegetables that are served in daily meals, and any surplus is sold to contribute to the home’s upkeep. It’s a beautiful cycle of care, sustainability, and love in action.
