In December 2019 we started making our Christmas visits to the orphanages, and our first stop was at the Lac Thien Orphanage. We combined a festive holiday visit with bringing general supplies to the orphanage. At the nuns’ request, we brought racks of eggs, 5 new hot water cookers, bags of rice, bottles of cooking oil, laundry supplies, cleaning products, diapers, and items for the elderly in the orphanage’s care.

When our team arrived, some of the children were getting extra tutoring lessons, and they took a break for the party. The children helped us carry everything into the common room, and our team handed out Santa hats, balloons, and presents to all the orphans. It was a wonderful Christmas party!

This special holiday visit was made possible through the kind donations of Scott Huynh and Hiep Nguyen. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
