In June 2024 we brought lots of food and other supplies to the Anh Dao Orphanage. We had contacted the head nun ahead of time and asked if there were any special items the orphanage needed this month. In addition to our regular supplies, she asked for new plastic chairs for the dining room. We bought everything, loaded up a van, and drove north to Ninh Hoa.

When we arrived, the older children came out and were big helpers carrying everything into the main common room. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, tofu sheets, dried tofu, vegan meats, mushrooms, vegan meat pies, yogurt, shrimp, fish, chocolate milk, cooking oil, soy sauce, sriracha, sugar, garlic, shallots, shampoo, body wash, and many new plastic chairs.

For a healthy snack, our team cut up a variety of fresh fruit for all the children to share. While our team was there, the children took them on a tour of the facilities and the fields behind the orphanage. It was a lovely day!

This charity trip was sponsored by a donation from Harry Leong in memory of Mrs. Sau Yue Eng.

ABOUT THE ANH DAO ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, a large group of orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses.
