In January 2023 we had a fun visit to the Ngoc Van Orphanage to celebrate the Lunar New Year. Tet is the biggest holiday in Vietnam, and we wanted the orphans to share in the traditions. Before our visit, we contacted the caretakers about the orphanage’s needs for the month, and our team bought lots of food and general supplies. We made preparations and drove north to see the children.
When we arrived, the little ones were excellent helpers, and brought many of the supplies into the common room. On this visit, we brought instant porridge, boxes of ramen, macaroni noodles, condensed milk, yogurt, canned meat, canned fish, dried bamboo shoots, and sanitized wipes.
To celebrate Tet, we brought traditional Tet sweets and handed out red envelopes of lucky money to all the children and the caretakers. They were so surprised! Next, we prepared sweet tea drinks for all the children to enjoy. It was a lovely visit!
This charity trip was made possible through the kindhearted donation from Jack, Nicole, and Charlie Malone-Povolny in the USA. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE NGOC VAN ORPHANAGE
Located in the northern part of Khanh Hoa province, the Ngoc Van Orphanage was founded in 2020 after a big storm hit central Vietnam. There were many deaths from the storm, and several orphans were brought to the Ngoc Van Pagoda to be cared for the monks there. Since then, the orphanage has grown and now cares for about 20 small children.
