In June 2022 we had a great visit with all the children at the Lac Thien Orphanage. We are always in close contact with the caretakers, and ensure they have everything they need on a monthly basis to care for the children. This month, they gave our team a detailed list of food and general supplies they needed. Our team took the list to local markets, bought everything, and loaded up a van.

Upon our arrival, our volunteers stacked all the provisions in the main common room, and all the children came out to greet us. We brought bags of rice, boxes of ramen, cooking oil, condensed milk, fresh milk, fish sauce, 3 standing fans, electrical supplies, diapers, toiletries, shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, and baby supplies.

As a fun treat, we prepared shaved ice drinks for everyone to enjoy. So yummy!

This charity trip was made possible through kindhearted donations from around the world. Our biggest thanks to Max Nguyen, Hung Pham, Bichlien Nguyen, Vanessa Nguyen, Alysha Sims, Koshu Takatsuji, Weekes Autographs, Daniel Cole, and Minh Nguyen. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LAC THIEN ORPHANAGE

Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
