In late September 2019 we visited the Suoi Dau Charity Home with lots of essential supplies. We had contacted the caretakers beforehand and made a detailed list of their needs. We bought everything at local markets then organized a visit. We brought boxes of noodles, bottles of fish sauce, milk, packages of meat, fabric softener, shampoo, cooking oil, hangers, and 10 headphones sets for lessons on computers. We also handed out snack bags for each child that contained paper lanterns and moon cakes to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The boys helped carry everything into the common room and our team stayed to visit for a while. It was lunchtime, so the boys set up tables and had a communal lunch together. Finally, our volunteers accompanied the children to the large field behind the home for a game of soccer. A lovely visit!

This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations of Michael Phan, Suruchi Khemka, Tuyen Truong, Molly Phillips, Dane Sawmiller, KTD Services LLC, Amazon Smile, and Wells Fargo. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE SUOI DAU CHARITY HOME

The Suoi Dau Charity Home is located in Suoi Dau district near Suoi Cat, which are both poor communities to the west of Nha Trang composed of rural farming hamlets that live in poverty. The Suoi Dau Charity Home is a loving place that houses and cares for a group of the community’s young boys whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The boys stay at the home year-round, sleep in dormitories, and have meals together in a communal dining hall. The boys all come from the ethnic Raglay minority group. Overseen by pastor Dam Nguyen, the caretakers who run the home provide a nurturing environment and ensure the children attend local public schools and provide after-school tutoring lessons.
