In March 2025 we completed a large construction project at the Loc Tho Charity School. We had asked the nuns at the school if there were any projects that we could help with. They told us that one set of bathrooms at the school were run down and in bad need of repair. They had already found contractors to do the job but lacked the funding to begin. We told them that we would help make the project a reality. The nuns were thrilled!

It took more than a month for the contractors to tear out the old bathrooms and build new ones. The nuns photographed the process and kept us up to date on the progress. When the bathrooms were completely finished, our team came out to the school to celebrate with everyone. Our volunteers brought balloons and got a tour of the new facilities. We also brought popsicles for the children as a treat. The project was a big success!

This construction project was funded through the amazing donations from Steven Burger, Luanne Lemmer, the Kinghurst Foundation, and a donation in memory of Ron Lieberman from the Baer Family.. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL

The Loc Tho Pagoda has had a charity school since 1991, which was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y.  Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to the children and passed away in 2014. The school is now run by the amazing and loving nuns of the Loc Tho pagoda. It’s a free primary school for poor children in the community whose parents cannot afford the costs of a public education. Textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees are all paid for by the school, and all children are welcome. The school provides breakfast and lunch for the students. The pagoda also cares for several orphans and foster children.
