September brought another successful supply run to the Loc Tho Charity School, ensuring the school kitchen stays fully stocked to prepare fresh, nutritious meals for the children. Before our visit, we worked directly with the staff to craft a targeted grocery list that directly addresses their current inventory and immediate daily meal needs.
Thanks to our wonderful community of supporters, this month’s delivery provided:
- Pantry Staples: 50-kilo bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, cooking oil, sugar, and packages of noodles
- Nutritious Ingredients: A variety of fresh mushrooms, vegan meats, vegetarian fish sauce, and essential seasonings
- Daily Essentials: Packages of fresh milk and essential cleaning supplies
Once the supplies were safely unloaded in the central courtyard, it was time for a special treat! Our team prepared a giant batch of fruit punch for the children to enjoy in the dining hall. The room instantly filled with laughter as the kids clinked their cups together for fun table-side cheers, before spilling out into the sunny courtyard to enjoy the rest of their juice treat.
Every meal served and every smile shared is thanks to your kindness. We are deeply grateful to our donors— the Kinghurst Foundation, Roger Puckett, Brian Collins, and Nicole Londt for making visits like this possible!
ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL
The Loc Tho Charity School, established in 1991 by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y, has a long-standing history of providing free education to underprivileged children. Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to this cause, and after her passing in 2014, the compassionate nuns of the Loc Tho Pagoda have continued her incredible work.
This primary school offers a vital service to the community, providing a free education for children whose families cannot afford public schooling. The school covers all expenses, including textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees, ensuring every child has the opportunity to learn. Beyond academics, Loc Tho Charity School also provides breakfast and lunch for its students and offers a nurturing home for several orphans and foster children.
