In September 2025 we had a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at the Anh Dao Orphanage. This holiday is lots of fun for children, as it involves carrying bright lanterns, traditional sweets, and watching lion dance performances. We wanted the children at Anh Dao to experience all of it!

Our regular allotment of supplies included bags of rice, milk, varieties of vegan meats, seafood, eggs, beans, seaweed, mushrooms, bar soap, shampoo, detergent, seasonings, and fresh vegetables.

In addition to bringing food and general supplies for the month, we coordinated with the orphanage caretakers to have a special party for the children. After carrying all the food inside, we handed out lanterns to all the children. Next, our volunteers played a big drum and dancers performed for the children. Finally, the children carried their lanterns around the common room and we handed out sweet treats to everyone! It was an amazing day!

This special holiday visit was sponsored by the kindhearted donations from Christopher Dang, Nicole Londt, Vanessa Nguyen, and Shaun Minn. Thank you!!!

About the Anh Dao Orphanage

Established in 2004 by Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, the Anh Dao Orphanage is a safe haven for a large group of children in need. Located in Ninh Hoa, just 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang, this heartfelt home offers a structured and nurturing atmosphere where joy and kindness flourish. Visitors are always struck by the cheerful spirits of the children and the genuine delight of spending time talking, playing, and simply being present with them.

To support the children’s nourishment and help offset monthly expenses, Sister An Son cultivates a modest farm behind the orphanage, near the girls’ living quarters. The farm yields fresh vegetables that are served in daily meals, and any surplus is sold to contribute to the home’s upkeep. It’s a beautiful cycle of care, sustainability, and love in action.
