Our latest trip to Anh Dao Orphanage was all about practical support and big smiles. After coordinating with the caretakers to identify their most urgent needs, our team hit the local markets to stock up on essentials.

The Delivery: A Team Effort

When we arrived with a van packed to the brim, the children were waiting in the driveway! They proved to be world-class helpers, jumping right in to help us unload a massive haul of supplies intended to keep the home running smoothly for weeks to come.

This month’s essentials included:

  • Pantry Staples: Bags of rice, noodles, beans, peanuts, sugar, and seasonings.
  • Fresh Proteins: Pork, eggs, seafood, and a variety of vegan meats and fish.
  • Produce: A wide selection of fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits.
  • Home & Hygiene: Diapers, detergent, shampoo, cooking oil, and cleaning supplies.

Fulfilling Special Requests

Beyond the groceries, we were thrilled to fulfill a special request from the staff this month: a brand-new refrigerator and washing machine. These appliances are vital for the daily operations of the home, and we are so glad we could provide this upgrade.

Playtime & Afternoon Treats

Of course, it wasn’t all work! Once the chores were done, the real fun began:

  • Toys & Gifts: We brought toys for the toddlers, plus soccer balls and kites for the older kids.
  • Snack Time: We spent the afternoon slicing up fresh fruit for a massive group snack.
  • Field Day: We ended the visit in the field behind the orphanage, where the children played with their kites and soccer balls.

Thank you so much to Carolyn Chau-Kha for making this visit possible!

About the Anh Dao Orphanage

Established in 2004 by Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, the Anh Dao Orphanage is a safe haven for a large group of children in need. Located in Ninh Hoa, just 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang, this heartfelt home offers a structured and nurturing atmosphere where joy and kindness flourish. Visitors are always struck by the cheerful spirits of the children and the genuine delight of spending time talking, playing, and simply being present with them.

To support the children’s nourishment and help offset monthly expenses, Sister An Son cultivates a modest farm behind the orphanage, near the girls’ living quarters. The farm yields fresh vegetables that are served in daily meals, and any surplus is sold to contribute to the home’s upkeep. It’s a beautiful cycle of care, sustainability, and love in action.
