This June, our amazing community came together to bring pure joy and essential relief to the children at the Martino Charity Home.
Summer has been a scorcher, so when we asked the caretakers how we could best treat the kids, they had one immediate answer: a day at the local water park! We couldn’t wait to make it happen.
A Day of Pure Joy
On the morning of the big adventure, excitement was buzzing. The children and caretakers gathered in the courtyard, boarded a bus, and headed off to the park.
It turned out to be the perfect, bright, sunny day! The park’s enormous wading pool was an absolute hit. For hours, the children frolicked, laughed, and splashed about, completely forgetting the summer heat. It was a day filled with unforgettable smiles and pure, uninterrupted childhood joy.
Sustaining the Home
Beyond the fun and games, we also wanted to ensure the home was well-supported for the weeks ahead. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to fully restock the Martino Charity Home’s pantries for the month of June with essential groceries and nutritious treats, including:
- 🥛 Milk & condensed milk
- 🥚 Racks of fresh eggs
- 🍜 Packages of vermicelli & boxes of instant noodles
- 🍳 Bottles of cooking oil
- 🍪 Plenty of fun snacks for the kids!

ABOUT THE MARTINO CHARITY HOME
This loving home is located in rural Quang Tri province, 90 kilometers northwest of Hue. The area is home to the Bru-Van Kieu ethnic group, who have a unique language and culture, and extend from central Vietnam into Laos and Thailand. There is much poverty in this region, which puts undue pressure on families. The Martino Charity Home was founded to house and care for young children in the area whose families struggle to support and provide for them. The home is adjacent the Phuoc Tuyen Catholic Church and overseen by Father Nguyen Thi Thu Huong. About 33 children aged 6 to 11 live at the home year round. The nuns and caretakers provide housing, meals, and a loving environment for the children to grow and thrive. The children attend local elementary schools and receive extra tutoring at the home.
