In January 2025 we had a Lunar New Year party at the Anh Dao Orphanage. As the biggest holiday of the year in Vietnam, we always like to do something special for the children to mark the holidays. We coordinated with the head nun and prepared some surprises on our regular monthly visit. As always, we also brought lots of food and general supplies for the month.
When we arrived, the children came out to greet our team and help carry all the provisions to the main steps. We brought bags of rice, sweet rice, mung beans, seafood, eggs, seiten, mushrooms, vegan pork, vegan beef, sausages, boxes of ramen, packages of noodles, watermelon seeds, sunflower seeds, bird nest drink, soft drinks, bun bao, fresh vegetables, sriracha, sugar, seasonings, fish sauce, soy sauce, clothes, flood soap, cleaning products, bar soap, shampoo, and fabric softener,
To celebrate the Year of the Snake, we handed out red envelopes of lucky money, traditional Tet sweets and food, and gifts for the children. Finally, our team brought out arts and crafts supplies for a fun decorating project. It was such a fun day!
This charity trip was sponsored by Terrence Connor and the Baer family in memory of Ron Lieberman.
ABOUT THE ANH DAO ORPHANAGE
Founded in 2004 by the Buddhist nun Thich Nu An Son, a large group of orphans are cared for at this wonderful home in Ninh Hoa, 62 kilometers north of Nha Trang. Visit the orphanage and you’ll find a well-organized and loving environment. The children are happy, and it’s a joy to sit, talk, and play with the little ones. To help provide nourishment to the children, and as a small means of earning funds, Sister An Son tends a small farm behind the orphanage, in front of the girl’s living quarters. The children eat the vegetables that are grown here, and the surplus can be sold to help pay for monthly expenses.
