In November 2024 we brought food and general supplies to the Loc Tho Charity School. At the beginning of the month, we contacted the caretakers and asked what we could bring on our next visit. They provided us with a detailed list, and we bought all the provisions and drove out to the school.
When our team arrived, all the children came out to greet us. This month, we brought bags of rice, sugar, cooking oil, boxes of ramen, milk, vegan pork, vegan beef, vegan meat pies, varieties of mushrooms, vegan fish sauce, tofu sheets, fresh vegetables, seasonings, cleaning products, hand soap, and several standing fans for those hot days.
As a treat, our team handed out cups of sweet drinks for all to enjoy during the children’s study break. So fun!
This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations from Luanne Lemmer, Vanessa Nguyen, Dao Giving Fund, Tri Phung, Alysha Sims, Tai Huynh, Koshu Takatsuji, Daniel Cole, Kateryna Lo, Littlechad Newfield, and Jef O’Riley. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL
The Loc Tho Pagoda has had a charity school since 1991, which was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y. Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to the children and passed away in 2014. The school is now run by the amazing and loving nuns of the Loc Tho pagoda. It’s a free primary school for poor children in the community whose parents cannot afford the costs of a public education. Textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees are all paid for by the school, and all children are welcome. The school provides breakfast and lunch for the students. The pagoda also cares for several orphans and foster children.
