This February, our team returned to the Hy Vong Home for Disabled Children to ring in the Lunar New Year. For many of these children, who come from underprivileged backgrounds, Tet is a time of hope, and we wanted to ensure they celebrated with the dignity and joy they deserve.
The day was a beautiful blur of smiles and community:
- Warm Welcomes: We kicked things off with sweet tea and the much-anticipated tradition of giving lucky money (Li Xi) in red envelopes.
- A Sweet Break: The children gathered in the courtyard for an afternoon treat of cold popsicles.
- Tet Care Packages: Every child went home with a comprehensive gift set, including traditional Banh Tet sticky rice cakes, sunflower seeds, seasonings, soy sauce, soft drinks, and festive sweets.
We didn’t forget the incredible caretakers either! We were honored to provide them with gifts to recognize their tireless work. This special holiday visit was made possible through the kindness of our donors: Steven Burger and Thao Minn. Thank you for making this Tet unforgettable for these children!
