In late February 2019 we visited the Lac Thien Orphanage. Located in Ninh Hoa to the north of Nha Trang, Lac Thien is a loving home to a large group of orphans. There are a large number of orphan babies at Lac Thien, and the orphanage also takes in elderly whose children cannot care for them. We contacted the nuns at Lac Thien and learned of their most pressing needs. We did all the shopping, loaded up a truck, and made the 1-hour drive to the orphanage.
We brought sacks of rice, bottle of fish sauce, racks of eggs, brooms, shampoo, bags of bean varieties, dish soap, laundry detergent, toiletries, and school supplies. As a special treat for the children, we handed out some snack bags and arts and crafts drawings and stickers. The children were excited about the arts and crafts presents, and sat around the tables making their creations. It was a lovely visit!
