In March 2026, our team spent a wonderful day with the children at Song Lo Orphanage. To ensure our visit made the biggest impact, we coordinated directly with the caretakers to fulfill their specific pantry needs for the month. Our dedicated volunteers sourced everything from local markets, packing a van full of essentials and treats.
The children greeted us with huge smiles and proved to be excellent helpers, eagerly joining our team to carry supplies into the common room. This month’s delivery included:
- Protein & Pantry: Tofu sheets, vegan beef, vegan pork, vegan ham, sausages, and peanut butter.
- Staples: Rice crackers, ramen, mung beans, sriracha, and a variety of fresh vegetables.
- Dairy & Household: Yogurt, fabric softener, laundry detergent, dish soap, toiletries, and Tiger Balm.
After the heavy lifting was done, it was time for some fun! We handed out ice cream popsicles, which were a massive hit with the little ones. We wrapped up the visit in the main courtyard, where we watched the children run, laugh, and play games together. Their energy and joy were truly infectious!

ABOUT THE SONG LO ORPHANAGE
The history of the Song Lo Orphanage’s beginnings is heartwarming. As the story goes, a Buddhist monk was traveling in the countryside when he encountered a woman who said she could not care for her 2 children. She left the babies with the monk and fled. Not expecting to have 2 babies to care for, the monk made his way to the Song Lo pagoda, and the head nun at the pagoda, Sister Cat, agreed to care for the children. From that point on, orphans have been either brought to the pagoda, or abandoned at their gates. Formed in 2012, the Song Lo Orphanage cares for a small group of young children. Located adjacent the Son Lo pagoda, it’s a small facility deep in the countryside west of Nha Trang.
