In July 2023 our team had a great visit with the children at the Lac Thien Orphanage. After speaking to the nuns at the orphanage, we learned which items they needed for the month. We took our grocery list to local markets, filled up a van with provisions, then made the drive north to see the children.

When we arrived, we brought everything into the orphanage common room and all the children gathered together to greet our team. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, racks of eggs, milk, fish sauce, cooking oil, seasonings, sugar, diapers, and kitchen supplies.

As a treat for the children we handed bags of chips. Our team then spent a while talking with the nuns at the orphanage and watching the children play. It was a lovely day!

This charity trip was made possible through the donations from Vien Lam and Kevin Spring and through a corporate donation from Capital Group. Thank you!!!

Founded in 2006, the Lac Thien Orphanage is part of the Phat Buu pagoda and lies north of Nha Trang in Ninh Hoa district. The orphanage’s origins are endearing. On a peaceful day, a baby was left at the gates of the pagoda. The nuns cared for him, and from that day on they have taken in orphan children from the area. The orphanage is run by the nuns of the pagoda and its head nun, Chon Minh. They rely entirely upon donations, most of which come from people in the community. There are about 30 children at the orphanage, from newborns to teenagers, and Lac Thien also takes in elderly whose family cannot care for them.
