In December 2020 we had a fun visit with the children at the Phu Quang Orphanage. We had contacted the head nun and made a list of the orphanage’s current needs. Our team did all the shopping at local markets and drove out to the orphanage.

We brought everything into the common room and all the children crowded around. We brought bags of rice, boxes of instant noodles, packages of vegan pork and vegan pate, packages of instant pho, packages of macaroni noodles, seasonings, bottles of siracha, cooking fuel, and lots of fresh vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes, squash, cabbage, cauliflower, and chaote squash.

The children sat on the floor of the common room and our team made yummy fruit drinks for everyone. After their drinks, the children had fun with the balloons we brought and played in the common room. It was a very fun visit!

This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations of Elaine Nguyen and the Alameda High School Vietnamese Student Association. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE PHU QUANG ORPHANAGE

The Phu Quang Orphanage was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu An at the Phu Quang pagoda in the early 2000’s. For many years, the orphanage has been a loving home to orphans and a foster home to neighborhood children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Currently, Phu Quang cares for just under 15 children in a loving environment.
