In late November 2020 we had a fun visit at the Phu Quang Orphanage. We had contacted the head nun at the orphanage about their current needs and began to organize a visit. Our team bought everything on the list, loaded up a van with essential supplies and foodstuff, and drove out to the orphanage.
Upon our arrival, the children helped carry everything into the orphanage’s common room and stacked it all nicely. On this visit, we brought fresh vegetables including pumpkins, potatoes, carrots, and purple yams, cereal, powdered milk, fresh milk, bottles of soy sauce, brooms, mops, gardening tools, cleaning products, and coloring books.
As a fun surprise, we also brought banana ice cream sandwiches for the children, and we had a lovely picnic on the common room floor. After the snack, some of the children looked through the coloring books that we had brought, while others played with balloons in the common room. It was a very fun visit!
This charity trip was made possible through the kindhearted donations of Huyen Lai, Olivia McKay, and Suruchi Khemka. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE PHU QUANG ORPHANAGE
The Phu Quang Orphanage was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu An at the Phu Quang pagoda in the early 2000’s. For many years, the orphanage has been a loving home to orphans and a foster home to neighborhood children whose families struggle to support and provide for them. Currently, Phu Quang cares for just under 15 children in a loving environment.
