In June 2023 our team had a fun visit with the children at the Loc Tho Charity School. Loc Tho provides free primary schooling to neighborhood youngsters, including free breakfast and lunch. We had contacted the nuns at the school and asked what we could bring this month to help support their efforts. They gave us a detailed list and our team leapt into action.

We bought everything at local markets and made the drive out to the school. When the children had recess, the nuns brough them into the courtyard to greet our team. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, packages of ramen, sugar, varieties of mushrooms, packages of noodles, cooking oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, and dish soap.

As a yummy treat on a hot day, we handed out popsicles for everyone to enjoy. So fun!

This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations from Dan, Van, and Devin Haynes and an anonymous donor. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL

The Loc Tho Pagoda has had a charity school since 1991, which was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y.  Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to the children and passed away in 2014. The school is now run by the amazing and loving nuns of the Loc Tho pagoda. It’s a free primary school for poor children in the community whose parents cannot afford the costs of a public education. Textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees are all paid for by the school, and all children are welcome. The school provides breakfast and lunch for the students. The pagoda also cares for several orphans and foster children.
