In August 2024 our team had a fun trip to the Loc Tho Charity School. In addition to providing free education to youngsters from low income households, they also give the children breakfast and lunch at the school. All of the school’s food comes through donations, and we visit every month with lots of supplies.

The nuns who run the school gave us a detailed list of items to bring, and our team bought everything at local markets. On this visit, we brought bags of rice, boxes of noodles, sugar, milk, cooking oil, vegan pork, tofu sheets, mushrooms, vegan fish sauce, macaroni noodles, seasonings, fresh vegetables, and laundry detergent.

As a treat for all the children, our team prepared sweet bubble tea drinks for everyone. They all filed out of their classrooms for a short break and sat around the communal lunch tables for their treat. There were lots of big smiles!

This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations from Shaun Minn, Thao Minn, and Tri Phung. Thank you!!!

ABOUT THE LOC THO CHARITY SCHOOL

The Loc Tho Pagoda has had a charity school since 1991, which was founded by Sister Thich Nu Dieu Y.  Sister Dieu Y dedicated her life to the children and passed away in 2014. The school is now run by the amazing and loving nuns of the Loc Tho pagoda. It’s a free primary school for poor children in the community whose parents cannot afford the costs of a public education. Textbooks, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, and teachers’ fees are all paid for by the school, and all children are welcome. The school provides breakfast and lunch for the students. The pagoda also cares for several orphans and foster children.
