In October 2023 we had a lovely visit with the children at the Ngoc Van Orphanage. We coordinated with the orphanage caretakers and made arrangements to bring food and general supplies for the month. On the day of the visit, our team of volunteers bought everything at local markets, loaded up a van, and made the drive out to the orphanage.
When we arrived, the children came out to greet us. We stacked all the provisions in the common room and the little ones helped us organize things. On this visit, we brought packages of glass noodles, boxes of ramen, bottle of soy sauce, chicken, sausages, ham, seasonings, dish soap, and laundry detergent.
As a treat for the children, our lead coordinator Mai Khanh sliced up pieces of sweet cakes for everyone to enjoy. The children all lined up for their slice, then walked around the common room enjoying their snacks. Afterwards, the children helped carry all the food and supplies back to the kitchen and pantries.
This charity trip was made possible through the kind donations from Christopher Dang, Linh Lam, Songloc Dao, and Fred Sims. Thank you!!!
ABOUT THE NGOC VAN ORPHANAGE
Located in the northern part of Khanh Hoa province, the Ngoc Van Orphanage was founded in 2020 after a big storm hit central Vietnam. There were many deaths from the storm, and several orphans were brought to the Ngoc Van Pagoda to be cared for the monks there. Since then, the orphanage has grown and now cares for about 20 small children.
